New Form for Generator Notification of Non-Receipt of Hazardous Waste
An online form is available for submitting a Notification of Non-Receipt of Hazardous Waste. Facilities that generate hazardous waste have specific reporting obligations that must be met, if receipt of their hazardous waste shipment is not verified by the designated, licensed hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility (TSDF) listed on the hazardous waste manifest form. Receipt is verified via the TSDF’s signing and certifying the manifest that states that the shipment was received, and returning the signed copy of the hazardous waste manifest to the generator.
Large Quantity Generators (LQGs)
As provided under Rule 312(4) of the hazardous waste regulations, an LQG must contact the initial transporter and TSDF within 35 days to determine the status of the hazardous waste, if the TSDF has not returned a signed copy of the hazardous waste manifest to the generator. If the hazardous waste was not received at the disposal facility, the generator must notify the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) within 45 days.
Small Quantity Generators (SQGs)
As provided under Rule 312(5) of the hazardous waste regulations, an SQG must notify EGLE within 60 days, if the transporter fails to deliver the manifested hazardous waste to the designated TSDF listed on the manifest and the TSDF fails to return a signed copy of the hazardous waste manifest to the generator.
