President’s Message - February 2024

February 13, 2024

Brian Denhoff, MISHE President

I hope your Winter is going well!

I had the privilege of attending three chapter events recently, all very different and all very well attended and both fun and informational.

Our SE Chapter, led by Joe Saldivar and Rocky Alazazi put on the SE Chapter Annual Holiday get-together on December 1st at Detroit Axe. There were well over a hundred MiSHE members present to deliver a load of goodies for Friends of Foster Care, this event was not only charitable but a great time was had by all. A big Thank You to Joe and Rocky!!

December 8th, our NC Chapter had its quarterly meeting in Kalkaska with a presentation by Dean Boiler and Merlo Energy who combined to give those in attendance a great overview of how to efficiently and effectively operate our steam boilers and the systems associated with them. Thank You to Will Hilmert and Rick Chaffee for putting on the meeting and to Will for hosting.

December 15th I was able to attend the EC Christmas party at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, Vince Perretti, Tim Lipka, and Mick Enright did a great job putting on the get-together and presentation by Zac Malewitz from EMGS about all the new NFPA Standards coming our way soon, this event was also well attended by MiSHE members, it was great to see everyone out on a 60-degree day in mid-December.

We have had some very informative webinars the past couple of months and have many more planned for the month and year ahead, your Education Committee and Board of Directors are working hard to provide great educational opportunities and some fun as well. There is an indoor golf outing scheduled for February 23rd, we have an additional Michigan CHC prep course scheduled for May 17th in Petoskey. These events are always well attended and we look forward to seeing you at one soon.

If you haven’t already, now is the time to renew your membership. It does get you access to all the educational opportunities MiSHE has to offer, and a discount to our conference and other events. Please feel free to reach out to me personally if you have any ideas or educational opportunities that you feel would benefit the membership, after all, it is you the members both professional and associate that make MiSHE a great organization. Look forward to seeing you all at an event or Chapter meeting soon!
