Biography:
The presenters are Andrew McLeod (GMB Architecture + Engineering) and John Parker
(Elzinga & Volkers Construction Professionals). Andrew McLeod, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP bd+c is
GMB's Senior Healthcare Architect. He has been designing Long Term Care facilities for nearly
ten years, including work with Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, United Methodist Retirement
Communities, Holland Home, Covenant Village of the Great Lakes and numerous others. John
Parker, LEED AP, has been working in the Healthcare sector for many years. John is a Certified
Healthcare Constructor, and received Healthcare Construction Project Management Certification in
2008. John's project management has lead Elzinga & Volkers through numerous Long Term Care
and Acute Care projects, including Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus powerhouse, Spectrum
Meijer Heart Center renovations, United Methodist Retirement Communities repositioning, Porter
Hills Green House, and many more.


Presentation Title: Master Planning - A Case Study

Synopsis:

This presentation will discuss the Master Planning process created for the United Methodist
Retirement Community (a Continuing Care Retirement Community - IL Cottages, IL Apartments,
Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing) in Chelsea, Michigan. The unique process was an in-depth
investigative experience involving numerous partners and players, culminating in a detailed
repositioning plan.
