Presentation Title: Design, Construct Deliver: Innovation for an Evolving Economy

Synopsis:

As engineers, designers and constructors we need to push ourselves to identify innovative processes and creative solutions. Communication and problem solving can be greatly enhanced with a Building Information Modeling (BIM) platform that is shared among a project’s many stakeholders. This tool, along with prefabrication, were most recently utilized on the Miami Valley Hospital new Southeast Addition to help the team define aspects of the project which were modular, repeatable, and emphasized flexibility to adapt to the future. The end results were savings recognized in schedule, labor, material, the reduction of waste, and a heightened level of quality. This wasn’t a process of invention, but of innovation. Research, teamwork, and thoughtfulness led the process. Open-mindedness, a willingness to listen to, and share between stakeholders facilitated the ability to learn from the lessons of others.
