Biography:
Ronald Farr is the State Fire Marshal for Michigan. He serves as the Director of the Bureau of Fire Services.

Ron has more than 40 years in public safety, starting as a volunteer fire fighter in 1967. In 1972 Ron was hired by Kalamazoo Township where he served as a police officer until his appointment as Fire Marshal in 1978. In 2003 he was promoted to fire chief and served there until his retirement in 2009 when he was appointed as the State Fire Marshal.

Ron is an active member of numerous fire service organizations to include the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Association of State Fire Marshals, Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs, International Association of Fire Chiefs, Michigan Fire Inspectors Society and the International Fire Marshals Association. He is very active in both State and National fire service activities serving on numerous code development and Technical Committees. He is a member of the NFPA Standards Council and the U.L. Fire Council.

In 2006 he was presented the Percey Bugbee Award for Notable, Significant and Enduring Contributions to Fire Safety by the International Fire Marshals Association and in 2008 the President’s Award for Excellence in Fire and Life Safety by the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society.

This program will discuss changes regarding the Bureau of Fire Services. The program will also discuss the top 10 deficiencies cited in a Health Care Facility.
