Synopsis:
In operating rooms, patients are fully protected by hard ceilings. Once patients have entered post-op, ICU, CCU or a private room, they no longer have hard ceiling protection due to ceiling tiles congested with asphergillus. Since most mechanical devices run above the ceilings, facility engineers and mechanics often have to remove ceiling tiles to perform repairs or maintenance tasks.
In the past, the criteria for ceiling access was the removal of three ceiling tiles per 500 sq feet radius without being contained. These days areas of high risk require duct taping visqueen to the walls and ceilings. We call this the “Volkswagen” model. It’s not that this system does not work, but it is time consuming to erect and dismantle.
The mobile containment booth stores all tools needed for a job. Clear walls allow one-man transportation, nurse call lights to be seen, and easier communication with the worker inside. We call this the “Cadillac” model.
