Biography:
Jeff
Arthurs healthcare management career began in 1980
when he left a construction career to become a Maintenance Mechanic at Mendota
Community Hospital
where he worked in all aspects of building maintenance and construction. In 1992 Jeff advanced to a Facilities Management
position and in 1998 moved to his present facility, Illinois
Valley Community
Hospital where he is involved in departmental reorganizations,
training and process improvement methods. As the facility construction manager,
Jeff has completed
in excess of $30M in construction. His
current responsibilities include; Maintenance, Bio Medical, Security, and
Construction Management and he is also the IVCH Safety
Officer. In 1998 IVCH reorganized and
revised the EC Committee and implemented all their EC Plans. Jeff is a charter member of the Local County
Emergency Planning Committee and County Hospitals’ Task Force and acts as
facilitator in bringing local communities together for Emergency Management
Planning. He was involved in the
reorganization of the Hospital Engineer’s Society of Northern Illinois, (Local
ASHE affiliate) and has served on the HESNI Board since 2003. Jeff was the ASHE Region 5 Regional Leader
in 2005 and was elected in 2006 to serve on the ASHE Board as the Region 5
Director completing his term this year.
In 2007, Jeff received his SASHE and has served on ASHE’s Advocacy,
Facilities Management and NFPA 99 Committees, Chairing the CHFM and Succession
Planning Task Forces. Jeff is a
candidate for the position of ASHE 2009 President –Elect. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys reading and
teaching, with a bit of vegetable gardening tossed in.
