Synopsis:

Session C:  Managing the Building Envelope

Entrapped moisture in the roof insulation is a real concern and if ignored will lead to advanced roof failure. Detection of this moisture is a must before engaging in any roof project. Thermal imaging of the roof is generally agreed upon by experts as being the most reliable method for detecting moisture. This method does not require intrusion in the roof membrane but rather encompass 100% of the roof surface. This process ensures that accurate repairs can be made on the roof system to remove the areas of wet insulation, therefore maximizing the service life of the roof system. This process will enable the building owner to properly rate and prioritize (Roof Condition Index) major capital projects, as well. In addition, there are numerous applications for exterior walls and building envelope.
