Being a member of MiSHE
provides you
will many advantages. Among these are:
Networking With Piers Networking and advocacy are two words that belong together. MiSHE attempts to influence positive change in the industry while communicating and sharing information piers. There are many overlapping or competing regulations, for instance. By identifying those overlapping or competing regulations, through communication with other members, MiSHE is able to make suggestions, comments, and changes to the regulations. MiSHE helps to solidify thinking, provide solutions, and suggest improvements to improve patient safety, comfort, and accessibility in healthcare institutions throughout Michigan.
There are several ways to help
MiSHE
members accomplish these two things; networking and advocacy:
YAK (You Asked to Know) has two tools. The first too of YAK is an email server program that allows information to be sent to all members as email and allows each member the opportunity to respond. MiSHE sends out announcements about activities, seminars, conferences, newsletters, and single item information bulletins called “Digital Dispatch.” Members can also as questions or seek solutions by posting an email to all members. Often the answers to member questions are quick and full of important information to assist. This has been the hallmark of MiSHE since the inception of the association; helpful and informed assistance to any member to asks!
The second tool of YAK is an anonymous process where you can ask regulators a codes-type question and retain your anonymity! Know one knows your identity or that of your institution. Your question is filtered through MiSHE as a generic question. MiSHE asks the question and you receive an answer through MiSHE. To help all members, the generic question and answer is posted in YAK for all members to read. You can read some to the questions that have been asked and answers given in the past by going to the YAK section.
Networking Sessions at the State-Wide Conference These sessions are designed to let members “rub elbows” to share information while doing something enjoyable or entertaining. As you can imagine, the most popular activities are golfing and fishing. However, the titles of these activities speak to the type of information sharing that occurs at these information sessions. In addition to golfing and fishing, MiSHE has set up botanical tours, disk golf, and other types of networking sessions.
The MiSHE Member Reception is another opportunity to meet with fellow members. This session is held at the end of a day of golfing and fishing. It's a chance to unwind a little more and to enjoy some food and drink.
Conference and Seminars Throughout the Year The state-wide conference occurs once a year and has been scheduled for the last full week in September for more than 15 years. The conference is a three-day event. The first day is filled with networking sessions. The second day is a full of presentations, exhibitor show, and food. The cost of the seminar includes lunch and snacks during the day and finishes with a formal banquet. The last day focus on codes, standards, and regulations. State and national regulators, and other officials are some featured speakers.
Seminars and training sessions occur at various times during the year. These are member-driving and the officers of MiSHE at the regional and state level are continuously asking members what they want or need. If you have a suggestion, you are encouraged to click here and send an email to the director with your thoughts. Locations have been used around the state and some of the topics have generally been things like: life safety, pumps, steam systems, codes, CMS regulations, and many more.
