East Central Michigan Minutes

ECMSHE meeting held March 14, 2000 at Fritz’s Restaurant, Richville, Michigan:

Treasurer’s Report: $5,801.92

Old Business:

Correction to February minutes: last paragraph on first page should read:
Dick Gudkese added that MHA's previous stance on hospital incinerators was to oppose new regulations. This position has since changed based partly on the pollution incident at Alpena General Hospital. MHA's new position is zero mercury production and to endorse the DEQ incinerator regulation.

It was decided to meet upstairs at “FRITZ’S” again in March. Price of meal raised to $8.00. Steve Jablonski will investigate possibilities and make suggestions for three alternate meeting sites.

New Business:

Al Bartholomew will bring updated projected budget to next meeting, to include:
$500 scholarship donation to be given through MiSHE
(Steve Jablonski explained the MiSHE scholarship selection process)
$300 registration fee for ECMSHE officers to attend annual MiSHE Conference

Al Bartholomew will bring draft of changes to membership definition section of by-laws intended to coordinate with MISHE definitions.

Dick Gudkese brought a definition for "oxygen rich" environment as pertaining to concerns about nurse call cord systems.

Consensus about cell phone and radio interference with bio-med equipment is to avoid transmitting in proximity. Recent technology avoids interference but existing older systems may still cause problems. Norb Birchmeier will bring report about NEXTEL phone/pager systems. Danny Dunn mentioned Fire Panel interference from Motorola hand held two-way radios.
