Message from the SE-MiSHE President

To: SE-MISHE Members Well here we are in the last part of 2011, it’s been quite a year with many changes. The one thing that has not changed and that has remained constant is SE-MiSHE. As you may know the Southeast was the largest Chapter at one time, and we need to be there once again. This can only happen with member support, and yes I know this takes time, and that’s the one thing that none of us have anymore. But if we could find 5 minutes and just call or email someone we know and just have them check out the MiSHE Web Page, this could be the spark that starts the interest that gets a member. We are only a few weeks away from the Annual Conference; this is one of our best tools to use in getting membership. In the early 90s I attended the conference as a guest; I was amazed on how I was welcomed into this organization. I had attended the golf outing, and I knew no one. By the time our foursome got to the 2nd hole I felt like I had known these guys for years. And they were having the same problems at their facility as me and had great ideas on how to handle these problems. It just snowballed from there. By the time the conference had ended, I had made so many connections, done so much networking, and reached so many vendors, that my facility ran so much smoother; I joined 3 days later. Any way I could go on forever, and that’s just it. Remember that feeling of belonging and knowing were you could get answers. Its called MiSHE, the number one organization for our profession in the state of Michigan. MiSHE has come up with some great incentives to increase membership. I will get these posted on our page.
