About
Recertification
|
The Recertification Process:
After you have been
certified, you should be attending update or additional training that you and
your facilities manager identify as important work-related training. This
training may be general or individualized and identified by your supervisor
as necessary for your work. Use the Recertification Form or a proprietary
from that provides the same information as the Recertification Form to
document your training each year.
Steps to recertification
are:
- After
receiving your certification at either of the two levels (Certified or
Senior Certified), you are to acquire and document 6 hours of
classroom-style training per year.
- If you
have received certification prior to September 2006, you will need to
register for recertification to start the clock for recertification and
start to acquire and document 6 hours of classroom-style training per
year.
- At
the end of two years after receiving Certified Healthcare Mechanic
status, you will have enough experiential time to qualify to take the
Senior Certified test. If you take and pass the Senior Certified test at
the current cut score, your recertification date will start from the new
certification anniversary date.
- At
the end of 5 years you will have the option to either take the
certification test again or to recertify before the month of your
anniversary date. This is the month in which you received certification.
You must choose one of the two options:
- Take
the Certification Test: At the end of 5 years the certificate holder
has the option of paying for and taking the certification test again.
The candidate must pass the certification test at the level of the
certification currently held (Certified or Senior Certified).
- Recertify:
At the end of 5 years the certificate holder has the option to pay for
recertification and present documented evidence that he/she has
acquired 6 hours of classroom-style training during each of the 5
previous years.
- To
recertify, your facilities manager must sign and date the
Recertification Form (or an equivalent proprietary form) each year and
verify that you have acquired a minimum of six (6) classroom-style hours
of training per year.
- A
copy of the Recertification Form is placed in your personnel file, and
another copy kept for yourself. The original will be sent to MECH for
recertification.
- Create
one Recertification Form showing 6 hours of classroom-style training for
each year of your 5 year recertification period.
- Send
the original Recertification Form showing you have acquired a minimum of
6 hours of classroom-style training per year for each of the 5 years.
- Include
the recertification fee of $60 with the original Recertification Form to
MECH.
NOTE: Failure to
recertify within the 5 year recertification period will risk loosing
certification or require the mechanic to retake the MECH Certification test
and to pass at the current cut-score for the level applied to become
recertified again.
