In this industry of changes whether it be technology, employees or even positions, it is nice to know that you are not alone. Almost all of us have had the unhappy pleasure of letting a fellow employee go because of budget cuts or that when someone leaves on their own accord only to be told that we can not replace them, where can you go to get some support from people who have fallen under to same bus? AHE, Michigan Chapter is a great place to find resources to help answer some of your questions. If it is finding the best way to utilize your work staff or the newest equipment that can save you time and money, networking with other Environmental Services managers who have had the same experiences is a great solution.
Another way to help find answers to burning questions like bio-hazard or Pharmaceutical (blackbox) training or FTE requirements per square footage is by attending and getting involved in our quarterly meetings that MAHE puts on at various hospitals around the state.
On September 28, 29 and 30th Michigan Society of Healthcare Engineers (MiSHE) a long with MAHE will be putting on our state convention that will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Kalamazoo Michigan. This is a great time to get together and network with fellow Environmental Services managers and directors in coming up with new and refreshing ideas to take back to your own institutions.
On November 2, MAHE will be holding a one day seminar (location and topics to be determinedā¦.any ideas or offerings would be greatly appreciated) that we hope to be held on the western side of the state.
If you know of anyone who could benefit from our organization (at a very low membership cost of only $25 per year) please feel free to write me or call me and we can discuss what MAHE can do for you.
Until next timeā¦.Happy Cleaning!!
Sincerely,
Patrick Erne CHESP
