Report from Annual MiSHE Connference at Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant:

Neil Herford, Al Bartholomew, and Steve Jablonski discussed their impressions of the conference: the speakers, the break-out sessions and topics, vendor booth arrangement, the luncheon, the companionship, the banquet, the wealth of information specific to healthcare field and regulations.

Group discussions:

Legionnaire's disease: aerated water source are particularly suspect, e.g., fountains, showerheads, evaporating towers.

Bed rails: both from a personal constraint avoidance perspective and from a pinch/wedge safety perspective. Continued constraint assessment and documentation needed involving family, doctors, nurses, Social Services. Alternative: lower beds, even adjustable to floor level. 9 deaths in USA due to bed rail pinch/wedge issue.

Steve Jablonski suggested specifying topic of meeting agenda on meeting announcement and possibly organize a telephone survey.
