It was decided to meet
upstairs at FRITZ’S again in February.
Reminder of urgency about
membership applications for the year 2000. Membership list will be communicated
to MISHE after the March meeting. It is necessary to have your application in
as soon as possible to be sure to be included in the 2000 MISHE Directory.
New Business:
MISHE
Steve Jablonski presented
check for $1,536.00 to ECMSHE from MISHE as promised based on 1999 membership
and based on attendance at the MISHE Conference. MISHE has the expectation that
we will communicate to them our plans for the use of these funds. This
information will help them evaluate whether such disbursements will continue.
This year's annual
conference will take place at the Soaring Eagle Casino at Mt. Pleasant, the
theme will be " Win With Your Career". Subjects of discussion will
include Society membership challenges, and communications among the chapters.

AHA Certification of
Facility Manager position handout from Pat Humphrey. June 2000 first scheduled
testing date.
Directed Discussion:
No one reported experiencing
any Y2K problems, probably due to such extensive preparation.
Bay Med discussed recent
inspections. 3-4 week preparation for fire damper inspections. for
JCAHO inspections, administration can request specific inspector, need to
network with each other about individual inspectors and what will be expected
during inspection.
Items included in inspection
questions:
infant abduction prevention,
R.A.C.E. and P.A.S.S., fire doors, medical gas valve labeling, chemical
training, documentation review, especially documentation for plans for
improvement, quality of charts and visual aids impresses and make it easier for
inspector, emergency evacuation plan, research into temporary facilities during
evacuation, building maintenance program, e.g., check doors, check dampers,
check sprinklers, etc.,
There was discussion about
pros and cons of contracted vs. in-house Bio-Med equipment upkeep. A mix of
in-house and contracted may work out well, too.
There was discussion about
nurse call cords in oxygen rich areas, possibility of ignition.
