MISHE has the expectation that we will communicate to them our plans for the use of these funds. This information will help them evaluate whether such disbursements will continue.

This year's annual conference will take place at the Soaring Eagle Casino at Mt. Pleasant, the theme will be " Win With Your Career". Subjects of discussion will include Society membership challenges, and communications among the chapters.

Directed Discussion:

No one reported experiencing any Y2K problems, probably due to such extensive preparation.

Bay Med discussed recent inspections.  3-4 week preparation for fire damper inspections.  for JCAHO inspections, administration can request specific inspector, need to network with each other about individual inspectors and what will be expected during inspection.

Items included in inspection questions:

infant abduction prevention, R.A.C.E. and P.A.S.S., fire doors, medical gas valve labeling, chemical training, documentation review, especially documentation for plans for improvement, quality of charts and visual aids impresses and make it easier for inspector, emergency evacuation plan, research into temporary facilities during evacuation, building maintenance program, e.g., check doors, check dampers, check sprinklers, etc.,

There was discussion about pros and cons of contracted vs. in-house Bio-Med equipment upkeep. A mix of in-house and contracted may work out well, too.

There was discussion about nurse call cords in oxygen rich areas, possibility of ignition.
